Saint Pauli vs Werder Bremen
HAMBURG (Interstat) — Two northern German rivals mired in extended winless streaks will meet Sunday when Werder Bremen visits FC St. Pauli in a Bundesliga match at the Millerntor-Stadion.
The matchup comes with both teams desperate for a turnaround. St. Pauli, the home side, has not won since Feb. 7, a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart. It is coming off a 4-0 road loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Feb. 14.
Werder Bremen’s struggles are more pronounced, having failed to secure a win in its last nine league matches across all competitions. Its last victory was a 1-0 result against this same St. Pauli side on Oct. 4, 2025. Bremen is also reeling from a 3-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich on Feb. 14.
Recent form heavily favors a low-scoring, tense affair. St. Pauli has been held scoreless in three of its last five matches. Werder Bremen’s offensive woes are even more stark, having been shut out in seven of its last nine games, managing only three total goals in that span.
The historical edge in the head-to-head series belongs to Bremen, which won the season’s first meeting. According to Interstat’s game simulator, that trend is projected to continue with a 2-1 victory for the visiting side.
A Bremen win would provide critical relief as it navigates a difficult schedule ahead, with matches against Heidenheim, Union Berlin and Borussia Dortmund looming in the coming weeks. For St. Pauli, a positive result is equally vital ahead of fixtures against Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. local time (1430 GMT) on Sunday, Feb. 22, in Hamburg.
