Tijuana Opens Liga MX Season With 3‑1 Victory Over Pachuca at Estadio Caliente

TIJUANA, Mexico (Interstat) — Tijuana opened its Liga MX season with a 3-1 win over Pachuca on Wednesday at Estadio Caliente.

Gilberto Mora put the home side ahead in the 33rd minute, with Diego Abreu doubling the lead just four minutes later. Pachuca’s Josef Martínez cut the deficit in the second half, but substitute Víctor Guzmán sealed the victory for Tijuana in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time. Guzmán also assisted on Martínez’s goal for Pachuca.

The match turned contentious late with two red cards. Pachuca’s Rafael Fernández was sent off in the 84th minute, followed by Tijuana substitute Enner Valencia in the 91st. The result defied a pregame projection that favored a draw.
