COYOACÁN, Mexico (April 18, 2026) (Interstat) — Club América opened its Liga MX season with a 2-1 victory over Toluca at Estadio Banorte on Saturday. The home side overcame pregame projections that favored the visitors.

Forward Brian Rodríguez scored twice in a six-minute span late in the first half, finding the net in the 44th and 50th minutes. Toluca midfielder Miguel Vázquez answered quickly with a goal in the 53rd minute, assisted by substitute Jesús Gallardo, but the comeback stalled. Vázquez also received a yellow card in the 19th minute.

The result gives América a winning start to the campaign, while Toluca begins with a loss. The match defied the statistical outlook, as Interstat’s systems had projected a draw and gave Toluca a 56.3% probability to win.
