SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, Mexico (Interstat) — Tigres UANL opened its Liga MX season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Guadalajara on Saturday at Estadio Universitario de Nuevo León.

Midfielder Juan Brunetta led the dominant performance with two goals, including a first-half strike in the 16th minute and a second in the 80th. Rodrigo Aguirre added a goal and an assist, while substitutes Daniel Aguirre and Ángel Correa also scored. Guadalajara’s lone goal came from Correa in the 46th minute.

The result defied a pregame projection that forecast a draw. Five yellow cards were issued in a match that saw Tigres control proceedings from the outset. With the win, Tigres begins the campaign 1-0, while Guadalajara starts 0-1.
