Substitute Heymans’ Early Brace Lifts Genk Over Dender in Belgian First Division A Opener
GENK, Belgium (Interstat) — Substitute Daan Heymans scored twice in the opening eight minutes to propel visiting Genk to a 2-1 victory over Dender in a Belgian First Division A match Sunday at DENDER Football Complex.
Heymans struck in the third and eighth minutes, capitalizing on assists from Nathan Rôdes and Gauthier Gallon, respectively. Dender pulled one back in the 58th minute when Bruny Nsimba converted a pass from Oh Hyeongyu, but could not find an equalizer. The match featured six yellow cards, including four in second-half stoppage time. The result defied a pregame projection of a draw, as Genk began its league campaign with a win while Dender started with a loss.
