Asteras Tripolis vs AEK Athens
AEK ATHENS VISITS ASTERAS TRIPOLIS IN KEY SUPER LEAGUE CLASH
TRIPOLIS, Greece (Interstat) — AEK Athens will look to continue its recent dominance over Asteras Tripolis when the sides meet in a Greek Super League 1 match Saturday.
The match at the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium is set for a 7 p.m. local kickoff.
AEK (10-2-3) enters with momentum from a commanding 4-0 victory over PAOK last Sunday. That performance rebounded from a surprising 1-0 midweek home loss to OFI. Despite that setback, AEK’s form has been strong, losing only twice in its last 13 matches across all competitions.
Asteras Tripolis (4-5-6) is also coming off a high-scoring win, having defeated Kampani Chalastra 4-1 last Saturday. However, its form has been inconsistent, with the club winless in its five matches prior to that victory, including heavy losses to OFI.
The recent head-to-head record favors the visitors. AEK secured a 1-0 home win when the teams last met on Aug. 31. AEK has also been strong on the road this season, while Asteras has struggled at home recently.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.
AEK currently sits near the top of the Super League 1 table and views this match as crucial to maintaining pressure on the leaders. For mid-table Asteras, a positive result is needed to build consistency and climb the standings.
Key for AEK will be translating its potent attack, which scored four goals in each of its last two wins, against an Asteras defense that has conceded multiple goals in several recent outings. Asteras will rely on home support and seek to exploit any fatigue from AEK’s busy schedule.
Following this match, AEK will prepare for a major showdown against league rival Olympiakos on Feb. 1. Asteras Tripolis is scheduled to face AO Karavas in a separate fixture later the same day.
