AMBATO, Ecuador (Interstat) — Macara opened its Liga Pro season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Delfin on Sunday at Estadio Bellavista Universidad Indoamérica. The home side took control late in the first half, with defender Nahuel Arena breaking the deadlock in the 40th minute. José Luis Marrufo, another defender, doubled the lead just before halftime. Midfielder Gastón Blanc sealed the win with a goal in the 87th minute. Delfin’s defeat was compounded by a red card shown to Nahuel Gallardo in first-half stoppage time. The result defied a pregame projection that had forecast a draw.
