MADRID (Interstat) — Sevilla’s youth side looks to rebound from a defeat in a regional derby when it visits CF Extremadura in the Copa del Rey Juvenil on Thursday.

The knockout stage match in Spain’s prestigious national youth tournament pits Sevilla’s under-19 team against a CF Extremadura squad seeking an upset at home.

Sevilla enters the contest following a 2-0 home loss to rival Real Betis on Sunday. That result continued an inconsistent run of form that includes just one win in its last four matches across all competitions. However, the side has shown a high ceiling this season, notably with a 4-1 victory over Barcelona in October.

CF Extremadura’s most recent result was a 3-1 home win over UD Las Palmas on Oct. 28. The team will rely on home advantage in what projects to be a tightly contested fixture.

Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 1-1 draw, which would force the match to be decided by extra time or penalties.

Following Thursday’s cup tie, Sevilla’s first team returns to La Liga action Sunday at Valencia.
