BUENOS AIRES (Interstat) — Velez Sarsfield and River Plate played to a 0-0 draw on Sunday in a Primera Nacional match at Estadio José Amalfitani. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.

The match was a physical, defensive affair, producing four yellow cards but no goals. The stalemate leaves both Argentine clubs with identical records to start their seasons across all competitions: zero wins, zero losses and one draw. The game’s key performers were all substitutes, with Ian Subiabre, Milton Casco, Agustín Bouzat and Agustín Obregón each contributing, though their assists did not lead to a breakthrough.
