Preview: Nancy Visits Amiens AC U19 in Ligue 2 Youth Clash

PARIS (Interstat) — A matchup of teams seeking consistency will unfold Saturday when Nancy travels to face Amiens AC U19 in a French Ligue 2 youth league contest.

The game at Stade de la Licorne’s academy grounds pits a visiting Nancy side fresh off a morale-boosting win against a home Amiens U19 squad that has struggled for results against senior opposition.

Nancy (6-7-2) enters on the strength of a 1-0 home victory over Clermont on Dec. 12, a result that snapped a four-match losing streak across all competitions. Prior to that win, Nancy had been outscored 6-1 in defeats to Grenoble Foot 38, Saint-Etienne II, Stade Lavallois and Le Mans. Their form has been uneven, with the shutout of Clermont preceded by a 4-1 loss to Montpellier and a 1-0 loss to Amiens’ senior side, Amiens SC, on Oct. 20.

Amiens AC U19 (5-8-3) is coming off a 2-2 draw with Reims U19 on Dec. 13. Their recent form is mixed, with a 2-1 win over Pau on Dec. 12 followed by a loss to Le Havre U19. Notably, the young Amiens side has found victories hard to secure against professional clubs, with recent losses to Le Mans FC and Lille U19.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.

For Nancy, this match begins a critical stretch of their Ligue 2 campaign. Their next fixtures include a home match against Guingamp on Jan. 19 and a visit from Rodez on Jan. 23.

Amiens AC U19 will look to use this match as preparation for a series of academy league fixtures, hosting Metz U19 on Jan. 10 before traveling to face FC Annecy on Jan. 16.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) in Amiens.
