TROYES, France (Interstat) — Troyes opened its Ligue 2 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Red Star on Saturday at Stade de l’Aube. The lone goal came in the 43rd minute when forward Tawfik Bentayeb finished a sequence assisted by defender Lucas Maronnier. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that had forecast a 1-1 draw. Troyes improved to 1-0-0 in the league, while Red Star fell to 0-1-0. The visitors failed to find an equalizer despite late pressure. Maronnier, along with Troyes substitutes Saîf-Eddine Khaoui and Bradley Danger, received yellow cards in the physical contest.
