Troyes vs Red Star
Preview: Troyes Hosts Red Star in Ligue 2 Clash
PARIS (Interstat) — Troyes will look to continue its recent dominance over Red Star when the sides meet in a French Ligue 2 match on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at Stade de l’Aube.
The hosts enter with momentum from a 2-1 road victory over Boulogne on Dec. 15. Troyes won the season’s earlier meeting 3-1 at Red Star’s stadium on Sept. 23. Red Star, however, arrives with a fortified defense, having recorded consecutive scoreless draws against Bastia on Dec. 5 and Reims U19 on Dec. 13. Its last win was a 1-0 victory over Grenoble Foot 38 on Oct. 24.
Troyes’ form has been inconsistent, with just one win in its last five league matches. Following the win at Boulogne, it played to a scoreless draw with Thonon Evian Grand Geneve FC on Dec. 13 and suffered a 3-0 defeat to RC Strasbourg Alsace II on Dec. 6.
Red Star’s campaign has been defined by stalemates, with four 0-0 draws in its last seven outings across all competitions. Its attack has struggled, failing to score in five of those seven matches. The team’s last multi-goal game was a 2-2 draw with Clermont on Nov. 22.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.
Following this contest, Troyes will continue its league schedule at home against US Torcy-Paris Vallee de la Marne on Jan. 10. Red Star’s next Ligue 2 fixture is not until Feb. 13, when it hosts Nancy.
Saturday’s match will test Troyes’ ability to break down a resolute Red Star backline and could hinge on whether the visitors can find a rare offensive spark on the road.
