Neftekhimik vs FK Rostov
MOSCOW (Interstat) — FK Rostov looks to rebound from a weekend defeat when it travels to face second-division side Neftekhimik in the Russian Cup on Wednesday.
The match at Neftekhimik Stadium pits a Premier League club against a team from the FNL, Russia’s second tier. Rostov enters the contest following a 2-0 loss to Krylya Sovetov on Sunday in league play, which snapped a modest unbeaten run.
Despite the recent loss, Rostov’s form has been solid over the past two months. The club is unbeaten in eight of its last ten matches across all competitions, a stretch that includes a 4-1 victory over Nizhny Novgorod and a 2-1 win at Spartak Moskva. Their campaign has been characterized by strong defensive showings, with four clean sheets in that ten-game span.
Neftekhimik, meanwhile, has not played a competitive match since a 1-1 draw with Ufa on Oct. 30. Their season has been marked by a series of draws, with three consecutive 1-1 results in their most recent outings.
According to the Interstat game simulator, the cup tie is projected to be a low-scoring affair, with a predicted final score of 1-0 in favor of the home side, Neftekhimik.
Following the cup fixture, Rostov’s focus will return to the Premier League, where it is scheduled to host Lokomotiv Moscow on Nov. 30.
