BILBAO, Spain (Interstat) — Real Madrid opened its La Liga season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at San Mamés Stadium.

Substitutes powered the win. Kylian Mbappé scored twice, netting in the 7th and 59th minutes. Fellow substitute Eduardo Camavinga added a goal in the 42nd minute. Midfielders Álex Berenguer and Alejandro Rego each provided an assist for the visitors.

The result defied a pregame projection that forecast a closer match. Real Madrid begins its league campaign with a win, while Athletic Bilbao starts with a loss. Both teams’ overall season records mirror their league starts.
