Leamington vs Maidenhead Utd
LEAMINGTON SPA, England (Interstat) — Leamington delivered a commanding performance to defeat a struggling Maidenhead United 2-0 in an FA Trophy match at Your Co-op Community Stadium on Saturday.
The home side took control of the match from the outset, finding the net early and never relinquishing their advantage against their higher-league opponents from the National League.
Ewan Williams opened the scoring for Leamington just 10 minutes into the contest, setting the tone for the afternoon. The lead was doubled in the 57th minute when Timothy Berridge found the back of the net, securing the victory and a place in the next round of the competition for the Brakes.
The result marks a successful start to Leamington’s FA Trophy campaign, improving their record in the competition to one win and zero losses. Across all competitions this season, Leamington remains undefeated with two wins from two matches played. Their only other recorded result this season was a 2-0 victory over Stourbridge on Oct. 12.
For Maidenhead United, the loss extends a difficult run of form. They have now lost four consecutive matches across all competitions and have failed to score in their last three outings. Their record in the FA Trophy falls to zero wins and one loss. Overall this season, Maidenhead’s record stands at six wins, nine losses and two draws.
The outcome defied the pre-match projection from Interstat’s game simulator, which had predicted a 1-1 draw. However, the result aligned with the same service’s ELO rating, which gave Leamington a 65.60 percent probability of winning the fixture.
Maidenhead United will look to halt their skid when they return to National League South action on Nov. 22 with a trip to face Dagenham and Redbridge. They will then play nine more league matches through early January, including fixtures against Salisbury, Chippenham Town and a rematch with Horsham.
Leamington advances in the FA Trophy with the victory, with the draw for the next round determining their future opponent.
