GAINSBOROUGH, England (Interstat) — Alfreton Town FC delivered a 2-1 upset victory over Gainsborough Trinity FC in an FA Trophy match on Tuesday, defying pregame projections. The visitors won at The Gainsborough Martin & Co Arena after a 51st-minute goal from Euan Frank Mulhern broke a 1-1 deadlock. The result was a surprise after Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 3-0 win for the home side, which was given a 72.3% probability to win. With the victory, Alfreton Town begins its FA Trophy campaign with a win, while Gainsborough Trinity starts with a loss.
