GUASTATOYA, Guatemala (Interstat) — Guastatoya opened its Liga Nacional season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Marquense on Sunday at Estadio David Cordón Hichos. The home side secured the win with a first-half scoring burst, netting three goals in a 12-minute span. Renato Sequen opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, followed by two quick goals from Víctor Ávalos in the 37th and 45th minutes. The lopsided result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that had forecast a 1-1 draw. With the win, Guastatoya begins its campaign 1-0-0, while Marquense starts 0-1-0.
