DAEJEON, South Korea (Interstat) — Daejeon Hana Citizen opened its K League 1 season with a 2-0 victory over Pohang Steelers on Sunday at Daejeon World Cup Stadium. Defender Lee Myungjae opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and forward Joo Minkyu added a second-half goal to secure the win. The home side’s defense held firm despite a physical match that saw six yellow cards issued. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had given Daejeon a 63 percent chance to win but simulated a 1-1 draw.
