Late Goals Lift Genoa Over Udinese in Serie A Opener

UDINE, Italy (Dec. 8, 2025) (Interstat) — Genoa opened its Serie A season with a 2-1 comeback victory over Udinese on Monday at Bluenergy Stadium. The visitors overturned a one-goal deficit with two late strikes.

Udinese midfielder Jakub Piotrowski broke the stalemate in the 65th minute. Genoa responded with an 83rd-minute equalizer from substitute Brooke Norton-Cuffy. Fellow substitute Ruslan Malinovskyi then scored the decisive goal to complete the turnaround.

The result defied pre-match projections, as statistical models heavily favored Udinese. Genoa begins its league campaign with a win, while Udinese starts with a loss.
