GENOA, Italy (Interstat) — Genoa and Fiorentina opened their Serie A campaigns with a 2-2 draw Sunday at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris. The result defied pregame projections that favored the hosts.

Genoa defender Leo Østigård opened the scoring in the 15th minute. The match then saw a flurry of second-half goals, with Fiorentina’s Roberto Piccoli and Lorenzo Colombo scoring in the 57th and 60th minutes, respectively, to briefly give the visitors a lead.
