Hibernian vs Falkirk FC

Hibernian, Falkirk Set for Premiership Clash at Easter Road

EDINBURGH, Scotland (Interstat) — Hibernian and Falkirk FC will meet in a Scottish Premiership fixture on Saturday, renewing a rivalry that produced a thrilling draw earlier this season.

The match at Hibernian’s Easter Road stadium kicks off a busy December schedule for both sides. The teams played to a 2-2 stalemate in Falkirk on Sept. 23, suggesting another competitive encounter is likely.

Hibernian enters the match following a narrow 2-1 home loss to league leader Celtic on Nov. 30. Their form has been inconsistent, with a 2-0 win at Dundee on Nov. 22 preceded by a 2-0 loss at Motherwell three days later. Manager David Gray will look for a response from his squad, which has shown attacking potency in wins over Aberdeen and St. Mirren but has struggled for consistency.

Falkirk, newly promoted this season, arrives with momentum from a resilient defensive display. The Bairns earned a scoreless draw against Motherwell on Wednesday, following another 0-0 result at powerhouse Rangers on Nov. 30. Their recent away form has been strong, including a 3-0 victory at Dundee United on Nov. 22. However, a 4-0 loss to Celtic and a 3-0 defeat to Hearts highlight the challenges they face against the league’s top sides.

Statistical projections present a conflicting outlook. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 1-1 draw, while its ELO rating system gives Hibernian a 94.5% probability of victory.

The result could hinge on whether Falkirk’s organized defense, which has secured clean sheets in its last two outings, can contain a Hibernian attack that has been shut out three times this season. Falkirk will aim to replicate their spirited performance from the September meeting, where they twice came from behind to earn a point.

Saturday’s match is the first of two league meetings between the clubs in quick succession, with the return fixture scheduled for Jan. 24 in Falkirk.

Following this contest, Hibernian faces a difficult trip to Rangers on Dec. 15. Falkirk’s next assignment is a home match against Heart of Midlothian FC on Dec. 13.
