ATHENS, Greece (Interstat) — AEK Athens opened its Super League 1 campaign with a 2-1 victory over OFI on Sunday at Agia Sophia Stadium.

Substitute Eddy Salcedo Mora gave the hosts a lead just two minutes into the match. Robert Ljubičić doubled the advantage for AEK Athens in the 54th minute. OFI’s Luka Jović pulled a goal back in the 67th, but the visitors could not find an equalizer.

The match featured nine yellow cards. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that forecast a draw, though its system heavily favored AEK Athens to win. AEK Athens begins the season with a win, while OFI starts with a loss.
