Bodo/Glimt vs Fredrikstad
BODØ, Norway (Interstat) — Bodo/Glimt opened its Eliteserien campaign with a commanding performance Sunday, overwhelming Fredrikstad in a 5-0 victory at a rain-swept Aspmyra Stadion.
The home side needed just over half an hour to find its rhythm but then unleashed a devastating first-half blitz, scoring three times in an eight-minute span to effectively decide the match before the interval. The final scoreline vastly outperformed pregame projections from Interstat, which had simulated a 2-1 win for Bodo/Glimt and gave the club a 76.5 percent probability of victory.
The breakthrough came in the 37th minute from forward Jens Hauge, who settled the home supporters and opened the floodgates. Just five minutes later, defender Fredrik Bjørkan joined the attack and doubled the advantage. The first-half onslaught was capped in the second minute of stoppage time by defender Ole Didrik Blomberg, who powered home a goal to send Bodo/Glimt into the locker room with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Any hope of a Fredrikstad comeback was extinguished early in the second half. Forward Andreas Helmersen found the net in the 61st minute, further extending the home team’s dominance. The scoring was concluded in the 73rd minute by Mathias Jørgensen, another forward, who put the final touch on a comprehensive team performance.
The offensive explosion was a collective effort, with five different players registering a goal. Hauge, Helmersen and Jørgensen led the forward line, while defenders Bjørkan and Blomberg provided unexpected but welcome contributions from the back. Substitutes Eirik Granaas and Oskar Øhlenschlæger were each credited with an assist for their roles after entering the match.
Fredrikstad, which struggled to mount any significant offensive threat throughout the contest, saw its frustrations boil over in the dying moments. Substitute Eirik Granaas received a yellow card in the second minute of second-half stoppage time. His teammate, Oskar Øhlenschlæger, had also been booked earlier in the match, receiving a caution in the 20th minute.
The result provides a perfect start to the Norwegian top-flight season for Bodo/Glimt, which begins the campaign with one win and zero losses. For the visiting side, Fredrikstad, the defeat marks a difficult start, leaving them with zero wins and one loss in Eliteserien play. The records for both teams are identical across all competitions for the nascent season.
