Sunderland, Arsenal Draw 2‑2 in Premier League Opener

SUNDERLAND, England (Interstat) — Sunderland and Arsenal played to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League opener Saturday at Stadium of Light.

Defender Daniel Ballard headed Sunderland in front in the 36th minute. Substitute Bukayo Saka leveled for Arsenal in the 54th, and fellow substitute Leandro Trossard put the visitors ahead in the 74th. Brian Brobbey secured a point for the home side with a dramatic equalizer in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The result was a surprise after statistical models heavily favored Arsenal. Both teams begin their league campaigns with a draw.
