LISBOA, Portugal (Interstat) — Sport Lisboa e Benfica and FC Twente played to a 1-1 draw in their UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage match Wednesday at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Cristina Martin opened the scoring for the hosts in the 62nd minute, but FC Twente substitute Lynn Groenewegen equalized just seven minutes later. Groenewegen, who also received a yellow card in the third minute, assisted on Martin’s goal for Benfica. The result defied a pregame projection that heavily favored the Portuguese side. Both teams begin their European campaigns with a point.
