Bulgaria vs Georgia
SOFIA, Bulgaria (Interstat) — Bulgaria and Georgia will meet Tuesday in a World Cup qualifier with both sides seeking a crucial result to salvage their campaigns.
The match at Vasil Levski National Stadium is a rematch of a Sept. 7 contest that Georgia dominated in a 3-0 victory. That result is part of a difficult run for Bulgaria, which sits at the bottom of its qualifying group.
Bulgaria is reeling from a 2-0 road loss to Turkiye on Saturday. Its defense has been a persistent issue, having conceded 17 goals in its last five qualifiers, including heavy defeats to Spain (4-0) and Turkiye (6-1).
Georgia, while showing more attacking threat, also arrives after a disappointing 4-1 loss at Turkiye on Oct. 14. That defeat followed a 2-0 loss to Spain, indicating the team has struggled against the group’s top sides despite its earlier win over Bulgaria.
The Interstat game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, a result that would offer little for either team’s hopes of World Cup qualification but would at least stop Bulgaria’s losing streak.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. local time (1845 GMT).
