Montenegro vs Croatia

PODGORICA, Montenegro (Interstat) — Croatia looks to continue its dominant form in World Cup qualifying when it visits Montenegro for a Group H match on Monday.

The Croatians enter the contest atop the group standings with a 2-0-1 record in the competition, having outscored opponents 13-1. They are riding a wave of momentum after a 3-1 victory over the Faroe Islands on Friday and are undefeated across all competitions this season (4-0-1).

Montenegro, sitting at 1-1-1 in the group, is coming off a 2-1 win against Gibraltar. However, that result followed a pair of heavy losses, including a 4-0 defeat to the Faroe Islands in October.

Despite the contrasting trajectories, projections for the match are mixed. Interstat’s ELO system heavily favors the visitors, giving Croatia an 84.60 percent probability to win. Conversely, the same outlet’s game simulator predicts a 1-1 draw.

Croatia’s attack, led by a 7-0 thrashing of Gibraltar in June, has been relentless in qualifying. Montenegro will need a stout defensive effort at home to contain one of the group’s most potent offenses and secure a positive result.
