Greece vs Scotland
ATHENS, Greece (Interstat) — A stark contrast in form will be on display Saturday when a surging Scotland visits a struggling Greece in a World Cup qualifier.
The match at OPAP Arena pits two European sides on dramatically different trajectories. Scotland enters the contest atop its qualifying group with a perfect 2-0-0 record in World Cup play and is 2-0-1 across all competitions this season. Greece, meanwhile, sits at the bottom of the group at 0-2-0 and is winless in its last three matches, having been outscored 7-2.
The recent head-to-head history also favors the Scots. Just over a month ago, on Oct. 9, Scotland handily defeated Greece 3-1 at Hampden Park. Scotland followed that victory with a 2-1 win over Belarus on Oct. 12. Greece, in its most recent outing, fell 3-1 to Denmark on the same day.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Scotland is projected to extend its winning streak with a 2-1 victory in Athens.
The visiting side will look to maintain its momentum before hosting Denmark in another crucial qualifier on Nov. 18. Greece will attempt to salvage its qualifying campaign on the same day when it travels to face Belarus.
