GIBRALTAR (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first points of the qualifying campaign will face off Friday when Gibraltar hosts Montenegro in a UEFA World Cup qualifier at Victoria Stadium.

Both nations enter the match with identical 0-1 records in World Cup qualifying and are mired in prolonged losing streaks across all competitions. Montenegro is 0-2 overall this season, while Gibraltar has lost its last three international fixtures, having been outscored 11-0.

The visiting side is reeling from a 4-0 road loss to the Faroe Islands on Oct. 9, a result that followed a 2-0 defeat in Czechia on Sept. 5. Gibraltar’s most recent outing was a 3-0 loss in Croatia on Oct. 12. Its qualifying campaign opened with a 1-0 defeat in the Faroe Islands on Sept. 8.

According to the Interstat game simulator, Montenegro is projected to secure a 2-0 victory.

The match offers a critical opportunity for either squad to gain momentum before difficult fixtures on Monday. Montenegro will next host group heavyweight Croatia, while Gibraltar travels to face Czechia.
