LONDON (Interstat) — A pair of clubs with identical overall records will open their FA Trophy campaigns when Brentwood Town hosts Welling Utd on Saturday.

The fifth-tier matchup at The Arena pits two teams entering the national cup competition with 1-1-1 records across all competitions this season. Both sides are coming off emphatic road victories in their most recent outings on Sept. 20.

Brentwood Town arrives with momentum after a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Billericay Town. That result followed a 2-1 win at Leighton Town on Aug. 30.

Welling Utd, meanwhile, is riding high after a 4-1 thrashing of Canvey Island. The Wings’ season also includes a 2-1 victory at Uxbridge and a 1-1 draw at Slough Town.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the closely-matched contest is projected to finish with a 2-1 victory for the home side. The FA Trophy fixture offers both clubs a chance to advance in the historic knockout competition and build on their solid early-season form.
