Trabzonspor vs Besiktas

TRABZON, Turkiye (Interstat) — In a chaotic and thrilling Süper Lig opener that defied pregame projections, Trabzonspor and Besiktas played to a 3-3 draw Sunday at Papara Park Stadyumu.

The match, which featured six goals, a red card and nine yellow cards, set a frenetic pace from the opening whistle and never relented. The result leaves both clubs with identical records to start the domestic campaign: no wins, no losses and one draw.

Interstat’s pregame metrics had heavily favored the home side, giving Trabzonspor a 55.7 percent probability to win, with a projected final score of 2-1 for Besiktas. The actual contest rendered those forecasts obsolete within a half-hour of explosive action.

The visitors struck first in the 18th minute through substitute Tammy Abraham, who capitalized on an early assist from fellow substitute Emir Topçu. Besiktas’s lead was short-lived, as Trabzonspor’s own super-sub, Václav Černý, leveled the score just four minutes later, finishing a pass from Mustafa Eskihellaç.

Momentum swung violently again in the 25th minute when Besiktas forward Ernest Muçi restored the visitors’ advantage, making it 2-1. Černý then delivered his second goal of the match in the 31st minute, once again pulling Trabzonspor even, this time off a setup by Orkun Kökçü.

The game’s complexion shifted decisively seven minutes later when Besiktas forward El Bilal Touré was shown a straight red card in the 38th minute, forcing the Istanbul-based club to play a man down for the remainder of the match.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Besiktas managed to retake the lead in the 63rd minute. Midfielder Christ Inao Oulaï found the net, with the assist credited to goalkeeper Ersin Destanoğlu, to put the visitors ahead 3-2.

Trabzonspor, pressing for an equalizer against the 10-man side, finally broke through in the 84th minute. Forward Oleksandr Zubkov, who was instrumental throughout, scored the decisive leveling goal, assisted by Tiago Djaló. Zubkov had also provided the helper on Černý’s first-half equalizer.

The match was marred by disciplinary issues, with nine yellow cards issued in addition to the Touré red. The cautions began in the second minute for Besiktas’s Topçu and concluded in a flurry at the 90-minute mark, with cards for Abraham and Zubkov.

Key performances defined the offensive outburst. For Trabzonspor, substitute Václav Černý’s two-goal haul was paramount, while Oleksandr Zubkov contributed a goal and an assist. For Besiktas, substitute Tammy Abraham recorded a goal and an assist in his impactful appearance.

The draw sees both teams begin their Süper Lig seasons with a single point, having already matched the total goals projected for them in the simulator over the entire 90 minutes in a wild opening weekend affair.
