De Treffers vs ACV

GROESBEEK, Netherlands (Interstat) — De Treffers opened its Tweede Divisie season with a commanding 6-2 victory over ACV on Saturday at Sportpark Zuid, far exceeding pregame projections with a dominant second-half performance.

The match, part of the opening weekend for the Dutch third-tier league, saw the home side erase an early deficit with six unanswered goals, five of which came after halftime. The result handed De Treffers a winning start to both its league campaign and the overall season, while ACV began its year with a loss.

ACV stunned the home crowd early, taking the lead in the 13th minute through substitute Kian Slor. De Treffers responded before the break, however, with midfielder Steven van der Heijden equalizing in the 33rd minute.

The floodgates opened decisively for De Treffers in a relentless second half. Substitute Tom van der Werff put the hosts ahead for good just five minutes after the restart, scoring in the 50th minute. The lead was doubled almost immediately, as Anis Yadir found the net just two minutes later in the 52nd minute to make it 3-1.

The middle portion of the half was dominated by De Treffers midfielder Ruben van Strien, who scored twice in a five-minute span. He netted his first in the 67th minute and added another in the 72nd to complete his brace and extend the lead to 5-1. Forward Coen Maertzdorf capped the scoring for De Treffers in the 89th minute.

ACV managed a late consolation goal in second-half stoppage time, but it did little to alter the comprehensive nature of De Treffers’ victory.

The offensive outburst defied statistical expectations. Pre-game analysis from Interstat had projected a far tighter contest, simulating a 2-1 win for De Treffers and giving the home side an 86.2 percent probability of victory based on its ELO rating system. The actual six-goal output and four-goal margin of victory significantly surpassed those forecasts.

The match was a physical affair, with three yellow cards issued in the first half. ACV’s Karim Bannani was cautioned in the 17th minute, followed by De Treffers’ Ricardo Ippel in the 22nd minute. ACV’s Yannick Hettinga received a yellow in the 35th minute.

Alongside van Strien’s two-goal performance, the win was fueled by contributions across the De Treffers squad. Van der Heijden, van der Werff, Yadir and Maertzdorf each scored once, while assists were credited to Hettinga, Ippel and Bannani.

With the result, De Treffers begins its Tweede Divisie season with a win and no losses. ACV starts its campaign with a loss and no wins. Both teams carry identical records across all competitions for the new season.
