Kozakken Boys vs De Treffers
WORKENDAM, Netherlands (Interstat) — Substitute Bas Brussaard scored early in the first half and fellow reserve Tjeu Langeveld added a late insurance goal to lead De Treffers to a 2-0 victory over Kozakken Boys in a Tweede Divisie match on Saturday.
The result at Sportpark De Zwaaier avenged a home loss for De Treffers from the reverse fixture in September and continued the visiting side’s strong recent form in the Dutch third-tier competition.
De Treffers, the visiting team, took control of the match in the 14th minute. Brussaard, brought off the bench to provide an attacking spark, delivered by finding the net to give his team an early lead. The goal set the tone for a match where De Treffers managed the game effectively on the road.
Kozakken Boys, the home side, struggled to mount a consistent offensive threat throughout the contest. Their frustrations showed when Damian Timan received a yellow card in the 27th minute.
The match’s physicality continued in the second half, with De Treffers’ Oussama Bouyaghlafen also being booked in the 71st minute. Any hopes of a Kozakken Boys comeback were extinguished eight minutes later when another De Treffers substitute made his mark. In the 79th minute, Langeveld secured the three points for the visitors with his team’s second goal, ensuring a comfortable finish.
The victory improves De Treffers’ record within the Tweede Divisie to 11 wins, seven losses and five draws this season. Their overall record across all competitions now stands at 12 wins, seven losses and six draws. The loss drops Kozakken Boys to eight wins, nine losses and four draws in league play. Their overall record is now nine wins, nine losses and four draws.
The outcome defied the pre-match projection from Interstat’s game simulator, which had forecast a 2-1 victory for Kozakken Boys. However, the result aligned more closely with the same service’s ELO rating system, which gave De Treffers a 54.7 percent probability to win.
De Treffers entered the match having won four of their last five league contests, including a 1-0 victory over VV Ijsselmeervogels on Feb. 21. Kozakken Boys, meanwhile, was looking to rebound from a 1-0 loss to VV Rijnsburgse Boys on the same date, which had snapped a two-game winning streak.
De Treffers will look to continue its momentum when it hosts Amsterdamsche W on March 7. Kozakken Boys will attempt to get back on track with a road match against VV Katwijk on the same date.
