ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Interstat) — Sparta Rotterdam delivered a stunning 5-2 victory over FC Groningen in a KNVB Beker Women match Thursday at Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel. The result defied a pregame projection that had favored the visitors.

Defender Bruno Martins Indi led the dominant home side with a goal and an assist. Sayfallah Ltaief, Younes Taha, Thom van Bergen and Tobias Lauritsen also scored for Sparta, which built a commanding 4-0 lead by halftime. Ayoub Oufkir scored both of FC Groningen’s goals late in the second half. The match included yellow cards for Julian Baas, Pelle Clement and Martins Indi, and a late red card for Etienne Vaessen.
