ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Interstat) — The KNVB Beker Women’s tournament opens Thursday with a first-round match between Eredivisie Vrouwen sides Sparta Rotterdam and FC Groningen.

The match at the Sparta Stadion Het Kasteel will be the competitive debut for both clubs in this season’s domestic cup competition. It marks the first competitive meeting between the two sides this season.

With the 2025-26 season just underway, neither team has yet to post a result in any competition, leaving both with unblemished 0-0 records. The fixture offers an early opportunity for one squad to build momentum.

According to the Interstat game simulator, FC Groningen holds a slight edge, projected to advance with a narrow 1-0 victory. A single goal could indeed prove decisive in what is anticipated to be a tightly contested cup tie.

The winner will advance to the next round of the KNVB Beker, the premier knockout football tournament in the Netherlands.

Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday evening, Oct. 30, 2025.
