Red Star vs Clermont
PARIS (Interstat) — A clash of Ligue 2 sides with contrasting recent forms will see Red Star host Clermont at Stade Bauer on Saturday.
Red Star (6-4-3) enters the match following a scoreless draw at Le Mans on Nov. 8. The club has been strong at home this season, with recent victories over Grenoble Foot 38 and Stade Lavallois Mayenne FC in October. Their form, however, has been inconsistent, punctuated by a 3-0 road loss to Littoral Dunkerque on Oct. 28.
Clermont (4-5-4) arrives with momentum from a 2-1 victory over Amiens AC U19 on Nov. 7. Despite that win, the team has struggled for consistency, having lost three of its previous four league matches, including a 1-0 defeat to FC Annecy and a 3-1 loss at Pau.
Statistical projections for the contest are divided. The Interstat game simulator forecasts a 1-1 draw. Conversely, the same service’s ELO rating system gives Red Star a 66.40 percent probability of winning outright.
The matchup is a rare meeting between the two clubs this season, with the return fixture not scheduled until the final weeks of the campaign. Following this contest, Red Star will travel to face Bastia on Dec. 5, while Clermont will host Boulogne the same day.
