MADRID (Interstat) — Real Madrid Women opened their Champions League campaign with a dominant 6-1 victory over Monaco on Tuesday at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

Kylian Mbappé scored twice in the first 26 minutes to set the tone. Franco Mastantuono, Thilo Kehrer, Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham also scored for the hosts. Bellingham added an assist.

Monaco, which saw Denis Zakaria booked in the 33rd minute, managed only a consolation goal in the 72nd minute from substitute Jordan Teze. The result defied a pregame projection of a 1-1 draw.

Real Madrid Women began the European competition with a win, while Monaco started with a loss.
