Sao Paulo vs Flamengo
SAO PAULO (Interstat) — A dominant Flamengo side travels to face a struggling Sao Paulo on Wednesday in a Carioca Série A clash of Brazilian football giants at Morumbi Stadium.
Flamengo (23-5-9) enters the match in formidable form, having lost just once in its last 10 matches across all competitions. The Rio de Janeiro-based club is coming off a commanding 3-0 victory over Sport Recife on Saturday and boasts a stellar overall record of 52-11-21 this season.
In contrast, Sao Paulo (11-8-5) has been inconsistent, suffering three losses in its last five outings, including a 3-0 defeat to Mirassol FC. Their recent 2-0 win over Vasco da Gama on Sunday provided a needed boost, but their overall campaign record of 36-24-19 pales in comparison to their rivals.
Recent history favors the visitors. In the last head-to-head meeting on July 12, Flamengo secured a 2-0 home victory. The teams played to a scoreless draw in Sao Paulo back in January.
Despite the lopsided form, Interstat’s game simulator projects a tightly contested 1-1 draw. The result could see Flamengo solidify its position atop the table while Sao Paulo looks to build momentum.
Flamengo’s next match is at home against Santos on Nov. 9. Sao Paulo hosts RB Bragantino on Nov. 8.
