AFC Wimbledon vs Hfield Town

MERTON, England (Interstat) — Hfield Town routed AFC Wimbledon 4-0 on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at The Cherry Red Records Stadium in a League One match that extended the visitors’ unbeaten run against the hosts.

Lasse Sørensen opened the scoring in the 10th minute, slotting home after a buildup that sliced through the Wimbledon defense. Alfie May doubled the lead in the 57th minute, then George Sebine made it 3-0 in the 66th minute after coming off the substitutes’ bench. May struck again in the 72nd minute to complete his brace and seal the rout.

Steve Seddon provided an assist for one of the goals, while defender Ryan Johnson also contributed an assist. Seddon was booked in the 77th minute. Johnson received a yellow card in the 31st minute, and Hfield Town’s Ryan Ledson was cautioned in the 32nd minute.

The victory improved Hfield Town’s League One record to 18 wins, 13 losses and 13 draws. Across all competitions, the club now stands at 21 wins, 14 losses and 15 draws. AFC Wimbledon dropped to 15 wins, 23 losses and 8 draws in league play, and 17 wins, 27 losses and 9 draws overall.

Wimbledon entered the match on a difficult run, having lost four of its previous five league games. The hosts had beaten Wigan Athletic 1-0 on April 25 before falling to Plymouth Argyle 3-1, losing to Stockport County 2-0, dropping a 1-0 decision to Burton Albion and being shut out by Luton Town 3-0. The team had scored only two goals across those five outings.

Hfield Town came to Merton after a 4-1 home loss to Mansfield Town on April 25. That result broke a five-match unbeaten streak in league play that included draws at Bolton Wanderers and Cardiff City, a home draw with Wycombe Wanderers and a 2-1 victory at Leyton Orient. The visitors had also drawn with Reading before the dip.

The teams had met earlier in the season on Nov. 29, 2025, at Hfield Town’s home ground, where they played to a 3-3 draw. That result extended a pattern of close contests, though Saturday’s meeting was decisively one-sided.

Sebine and Sørensen each came off the bench to score, giving Hfield Town depth options in attack. May’s two goals highlighted his finishing ability, while the defensive unit kept Wimbledon off the scoresheet for the full 90 minutes.

The loss deepened Wimbledon’s struggles in front of goal. The club had managed only one clean sheet in its previous 10 league matches and had been held scoreless in six of those contests.

Hfield Town’s defense, meanwhile, has been inconsistent. The visitors had conceded at least two goals in four of their previous five league matches before Saturday, but they tightened up against a Wimbledon side that has often failed to generate sustained pressure.

The match was played before a crowd at The Cherry Red Records Stadium, the home of AFC Wimbledon since the club’s relocation to Merton.

The Interstat game simulator had projected a final score of AFC Wimbledon 1, Hfield Town 1. Interstat’s ELO system gave Hfield Town a 56.60 percent probability to win the match.
