Exeter City vs AFC Wimbledon

EXETER, England (Interstat) — Exeter City hosts AFC Wimbledon in a League One fixture on Tuesday, with both sides looking to stabilize their form as the English third-tier season approaches its midway point.

The match at St James Park pits two clubs separated by just three places in the table, though each arrives with recent struggles. Exeter, the home side, has lost three of its last four league matches, including a 1-0 defeat at Bradford City on Nov. 29. Its only win in that span was a 2-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle on Oct. 23.

AFC Wimbledon carries its own uneven momentum. The Dons are winless in their last three League One outings, most recently surrendering a late lead in a 3-3 draw with Hfield Town on Nov. 29. Their form has been inconsistent, with a 5-0 loss at Peterborough United on Nov. 8 highlighting defensive vulnerabilities, though earlier wins over Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers in September showed their capability.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw. That result would extend Exeter’s current run without a win to four matches and would mark a fourth consecutive league game without a victory for Wimbledon.

The fixture is the first of a quick home-and-away series between the clubs. They will meet again at Wimbledon’s Cherry Red Records Stadium on Monday, Dec. 29.

Following Tuesday’s match, Exeter faces a challenging trip to promotion-contender Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Wimbledon returns home to host Mansfield Town the same day, beginning a congested holiday schedule.

In team news, both managers are expected to assess squads following a full weekend of rest. The extended break since their last matches could provide a boost for squads dealing with the physical demands of the League One calendar.

Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. local time at St James Park.
