KUMAMOTO, Japan (Interstat) — Substitute Kota Kawano scored in the 68th minute to lift Renofa Yamaguchi to a 1-0 victory over Roasso Kumamoto in the J2 League on Sunday at Egao Kenko Stadium. The lone goal defied pregame projections that heavily favored the hosts. The result gives Renofa a winning start to their league campaign, while Kumamoto begins with a loss after a draw in their previous match across all competitions. Yuki Omoto and Naoto Misawa received yellow cards in the second half for the home side.
