ARMAVIR, Armenia (Interstat) — Alashkert opened its Armenian Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Van on Friday, secured by a goal in the second minute of the match. Momo Fanyé Touré scored almost immediately after kickoff at Armavir City Stadium, providing the only offense the hosts would need. The visiting Van side could not find an equalizer. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which gave Alashkert an 87.4% chance to win but had simulated a 2-1 final score. Both teams now hold 0-0 records in the young league season.
