CHELTENHAM, England (Interstat) — Tranmere Rovers earned a surprising 3-1 away victory over Cheltenham Town in a League Two match Tuesday at EV Charger Points Stadium.

The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the hosts. George Miller opened the scoring for the visitors in the 40th minute. Nathan Smith doubled the lead just before halftime in the 47th.

Cheltenham found no answer after the break. Jayden Joseph extended Tranmere’s lead to 3-0 in the 64th minute. Omari Patrick sealed the win for the visitors in the 85th, with Isaac Hutchinson providing the assist before receiving a yellow card in stoppage time. Cheltenham’s lone reply came from a George Miller own goal, credited in the statline.

The win improves Tranmere’s League Two record, while Cheltenham’s home form suffered a setback.
