Cheltenham Town vs Tranmere Rovers

Cheltenham Town, Tranmere Rovers Seek Momentum in League Two Clash

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, England (Interstat) — Cheltenham Town will host Tranmere Rovers in an English League Two fixture on Tuesday, with both sides looking to build on contrasting recent fortunes late in the season.

The match at Whaddon Road kicks off at 7:45 p.m. local time.

Cheltenham (14-11-15) arrives with confidence after a 1-0 victory over Newport County on Saturday, extending its unbeaten run to three matches. The Robins have taken seven points from their last nine available, including a 4-0 road win at Walsall on April 11. Their home form has been solid, with just one loss in their last five league outings at Whaddon Road.

In contrast, Tranmere (10-9-21) is mired in a severe slump. Rovers fell 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday, marking their eighth consecutive league defeat. They have earned just one point from their last 10 matches, a 1-1 draw at Chesterfield on April 11, and have been outscored 20-2 during this winless stretch. Their defense has conceded three or more goals in four of those losses.

The head-to-head history favors Tranmere, however. In their last meeting on Nov. 15, Rovers edged Cheltenham 3-2 at Prenton Park.

With only a few games remaining in the campaign, the matchup carries different stakes. Cheltenham, currently mid-table, aims to finish strong. Tranmere, hovering just above the relegation zone, is in desperate need of points to secure its League Two status.

A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a 1-1 draw.

Following Tuesday’s game, Cheltenham will visit Bristol Rovers next Saturday. Tranmere’s next fixture is at Milton Keynes Dons on April 25.
