Oldham Athletic vs Crawley Town

OLDHAM, England (Interstat) — Jack Stevens scored a goal in each half to power Oldham Athletic to a 2-0 victory over Crawley Town in a League Two match at Boundary Park on Saturday.

The result, which defied a pre-match projection of a 1-1 draw by Interstat, solidified Oldham’s mid-table standing while extending a dismal run for the visiting side.

Stevens broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, finishing off a buildup from midfield to give the Latics a deserved lead. The forward doubled the advantage just after halftime, finding the net again in the 51st minute to effectively seal the contest. Midfielder Ryan Woods was credited with an assist on the second goal, while substitute Taylor Richards provided the helper on the opener.

The match was a physical affair, with five yellow cards issued by the referee. Crawley’s Richards was booked in the 14th minute, setting a combative tone. Oldham’s Jamie Robson saw a yellow in the 32nd minute, followed by teammate Ryan Woods in the 42nd. A foul by Oldham’s Mike Fondop-Talom in first-half stoppage time earned another caution, and Oldham’s Jake Caprice was booked in the 70th minute.

The victory moves Oldham Athletic to 11 wins, nine losses and 11 draws in League Two play this season. Across all competitions, Oldham now stands at 11-12-11. The defeat leaves Crawley Town languishing near the bottom of the fourth-tier table, with a league record of just six wins against 19 losses and 10 draws. Their overall record across all tournaments fell to 7-21-10.

The game was a reversal of the teams’ last meeting on Dec. 13, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Oldham carried momentum from a 3-0 road win at Gillingham the previous Saturday into the match. Crawley, meanwhile, continued to struggle for form, having won only once in their last five league outings, a stretch that included three losses.

According to Interstat’s ELO rating system, Oldham Athletic entered the match with an 84.80 percent probability to win. The comfortable 2-0 final score ultimately aligned more closely with that high probability than the simulator’s predicted draw.

Oldham Athletic will look to build on the win when they travel to face Bromley on Tuesday. Crawley Town, seeking to halt their slide, next host Swindon Town on March 7.
