Preview: Oldham Athletic Hosts Crawley Town in League Two Clash

OLDHAM, England (Interstat) — Oldham Athletic will look to capitalize on resurgent form when it hosts a struggling Crawley Town side at Boundary Park in an English League Two fixture on Saturday.

The match pits two teams on contrasting trajectories in England’s fourth tier. Oldham (14-9-8) enters with momentum, coming off a comprehensive 3-0 away victory at Gillingham last Saturday and a 2-0 home win over Bristol Rovers on Feb. 17. Manager John Sheridan’s squad has lost only once in its last five league outings.

In contrast, Crawley (8-11-12) is mired in a significant scoring drought and winless streak. The Reds have failed to win in seven consecutive matches across all competitions, last securing three points on Jan. 31. More alarmingly, they have been shut out in five of their last six games, managing just one goal in that span—a 1-1 draw with Chesterfield last Saturday.

The head-to-head history suggests a close contest. The teams played to a 2-2 draw at Crawley’s Broadfield Stadium just over two months ago, on Dec. 13.

Current table positioning adds stakes to the encounter. Oldham, currently fifth in the 24-team league, is firmly in the promotion playoff chase. Crawley sits 18th, needing points to distance itself from the relegation zone.

Key players for Oldham will likely include forward Mike Fondop, who has been instrumental in their recent attacking success. Crawley’s hopes may rest on finding an offensive spark from winger Klaidi Lolos, whose early-season contributions have faded during the team’s slump.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the most likely outcome is another 1-1 draw, mirroring both the recent head-to-head result and Crawley’s last outing.

The fixture is part of a full League Two schedule Saturday. For Oldham, it begins a crucial period facing playoff rivals. Crawley views it as a critical opportunity to halt its slide before a run of mid-table fixtures in March.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time at Boundary Park.
