SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — Seongnam opened its K League 2 season with a 2-1 victory over Busan I-Park at Tancheon Sports Complex on Sunday.

Substitute Choi Giyun opened the scoring for Seongnam in the seventh minute, but Busan’s Kim Jeonghwan equalized just three minutes later. The match turned just before halftime when Busan’s Xavier was sent off with a red card in the 43rd minute. Seongnam capitalized on the man advantage, with Cho Wije netting the 81st-minute winner. The result defied a pregame projection that had forecast a draw.
