Wels vs Saint Polten
WELLS, Austria (Interstat) — A surging SKN St. Pölten side will look to continue its climb up the Austrian 2. Liga table when it visits a struggling FC Marchfeld Wels on Friday.
St. Pölten (8-2-4) enters the match on the heels of a 2-1 victory over Kapfenberger SV last Sunday. The club has won three of its last five contests, including a dominant 4-0 win over Sturm Graz II in September. Their attack has proven potent, averaging over two goals per game in that five-match span.
Wels (3-4-7), meanwhile, is mired in a slump, having won just once in its last eight outings. The team is coming off a surprising 3-0 road win against Sturm Graz II on Nov. 22, but has struggled for consistency, particularly on defense where it has conceded multiple goals in six of its last ten games.
According to the Interstat game simulator, St. Pölten is projected to extend Wels’ woes with a 3-1 victory. The matchup pits St. Pölten’s formidable offense against a Wels defense that has kept just one clean sheet this season.
Following this contest, St. Pölten will host Young Violets Austria Wien on Dec. 5. Wels travels to face Floridsdorfer AC on the same date.
