Flenu vs RUS Binche

FLENU, Belgium (Interstat) — A solitary second-half goal from midfielder Samir Belasfar secured a narrow 1-0 victory for Flenu over visiting RUS Binche in a Belgian Division 2 match on Sunday at Complexe Sportif de Flénu.

The result, which avenged a 2-1 away loss to Binche from earlier in the season, solidified Flenu’s strong standing in the league campaign. The home side now holds a record of 17 wins, seven losses and five draws in Division 2 play, while Binche’s mid-table form dipped to 12 wins, 13 losses and four draws.

The match was a tense, physical affair, reflected in five yellow cards issued by the officiating crew. The first booking came in the 18th minute for Binche defender Mohan Lagneaux, who would later factor into the game’s decisive moment.

Despite pregame projections from Interstat that heavily favored Flenu with an 83% win probability and forecast a 2-1 scoreline, the contest remained a gritty, goalless deadlock for more than an hour. Both sides struggled to create clear chances, with the defensive structure of the visitors frustrating Flenu’s attacking intentions.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 66th minute, stemming from a well-worked Flenu move. The sequence began with substitute Pablo Persichetti, who had entered the fray to provide fresh impetus. He found fellow substitute Wesley Lubaki, who quickly switched play to another substitute, Jordan Massengo. Massengo’s vision sent defender Arno Ouzrouhene forward on an overlapping run down the left flank. Ouzrouhene’s first-time cross was met perfectly by the late-arriving run of Belasfar, who directed his finish past the Binche goalkeeper. Notably, the assist was credited to Ouzrouhene, but the build-up involved three second-half substitutes, highlighting the depth of the Flenu squad.

The goal underscored a reversal of fortune from the teams’ previous meeting on Oct. 12, 2025, when Binche emerged with a 2-1 home win. This time, Flenu’s defense, marshaled by the involved Ouzrouhene and the booked Lagneaux, held firm under late pressure to secure a clean sheet and all three points.

The match grew increasingly fractious after the goal, with four of the game’s five yellow cards shown in the final half-hour. Lubaki was booked in the 58th minute, followed by Ouzrouhene in the 62nd. After the goal, Persichetti saw yellow in the 77th minute and Massengo in the 85th as Binche sought unsuccessfully for an equalizer.

The victory extends Flenu’s positive recent form, having now won three of its last four league matches, including victories over Sporting Bruxelles and Royal Aywaille FC. For RUS Binche, the narrow defeat continues an inconsistent pattern, marking its second 1-0 loss in as many weeks following a defeat to CS Pays Vert Ostiches-Ath on March 15.

Flenu will look to build on this result when it travels to face Stade Vervietois on Saturday, March 28. RUS Binche, seeking to regain momentum, will host RSD Jette on Sunday, March 29. Both matches are part of the ongoing Belgian Division 2 schedule.
