RUSTAVI, Georgia (Interstat) — Rustavi delivered a stunning 3-2 upset victory over Gardabani in the David Kipiani Cup on Saturday, defying pregame projections that heavily favored the home side. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a Gardabani win, but Rustavi’s attack proved overwhelming. Jumber Khmelidze led the charge with two first-half goals, while midfielder Bantu Mzwakali added another. Gardabani’s Royal Omarov and Luka Elizbarashvili scored second-half goals in the losing effort. With the win at Stade du Clos Gastel 1, Rustavi improved to 1-0 in the competition, while Gardabani fell to 0-1.
